How to Cite Electronic & Print Resources

This is a compilation of online and print sources of the major style guides. Most print sources are located in the Ready Reference area near the Reference Desk.

BASIC ELEMENTS TO INCLUDE WHEN CITING ELECTRONIC SITES:
In general, a citation of an Internet source should include at least the following information, the arrangement of which may differ from style to style:

1. Name of author or sponsoring agency, if any
2. Full title of document
3. Description of context, i.e., title of journal, newspaper or electronic list
4. Date of electronic publication or last update notice, if available
5. Date when text retrieved from the Web
6. Electronic address of site (URL)
