Faculty Instructions for Using Panopto Videos through Sakai
Overview
Panopto is a digital media service software that the University of Baltimore uses for lecture capture and streaming media. This software will allow faculty to make digital video and audio available for viewing and/or listening within select Sakai courses. This digital content streams through your web browser, and is not available for offline download due to copyright restrictions. Mobile device browsers are supported through the Panopto app. Please note: When signing into the mobile app, please make sure the Log in using option is set to UBalt Single Sign-On.
Access Instructions
1. Fill out the web request form to begin the process. This must be done prior to gaining access to the Panopto Video tool in Sakai.
2. Once your media has been approved and digitized, the “Panopto Video" option will be added to your course site(s) by an e-Learning administrator. Login to Sakai.
3. Any media associated with your course will display in the chart on the right-hand side.
4. To play any media, simply click on the chart. Note: Digital media is only available for streaming in very limited timeframes due to copyright and Fair Use guidelines. As a general rule, copyright protected media will only be available 1 time a semester for 7 consecutive days through Sakai. The media will be set to display for your students within the date range you identify on the web form. Please email the e-reserves coordinator to adjust any viewing dates at reserves@ubalt.edu
