This guide provides information on locating and accessing print and online resources from Langsdale Library, including books, journal articles and web resources. This, however, is only a sampling of materials available at Langsdale; we hope that you visit the Langsdale website for information on our full collection.

A resources from the Academy of American Poets with thousands of poems, essays, biographies, weekly features etc.

Poetry Foundataion
Search thousands of poems by theme, occasion and subject in the poetry archive; and read poet biographies, poetry news, comics and articles about poets and poetry.

Library of Congress - Web Guides
Library of Congress bibliographies, research guides and finding aids.

Academic Search Premier  [on-campus] [help]
Coverage: 1990 - present. Provides full-text for over 3,400 scholarly journals covering the social sciences, humanities, education, sciences, and more. Funded by the Maryland Digital Library (MDL).

ArticleFirst [on-campus] [help]
Coverage: 1990 – present. Indexes journals in science, technology, medicine, social science, business, the humanities, and popular culture.  Citations only.  No abstracts or full-text. Now includes ContentsFirst.

America: History and Life [on campus] [help]
Coverage: 1964 - present. America: History and Life is a complete bibliographic reference to the history of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. The database comprises almost 400,000 bibliographic entries from over 2,000 journals published worldwide. 

Historical Abstracts [on campus]
1954 to the present: Information on articles, books, and dissertations about non-U.S. and non-Canadian history from 1450 to the present. Covers more than 2000 journals in 50 languages. Includes links to full text of selected journal articles.

Humanities International Complete (EBSCO) [on-campus]
Humanities International Complete is an essential collection for comprehensive coverage of the humanities with some full text content. Produced by Whitston Publishing (an imprint of EBSCO Publishing), this database includes all data from Humanities International Index (over 2,000 titles and 2 million records) plus unique full text content, much of which is not found in other databases. The database includes full text for more than 770 journals.

JSTOR [on-campus]
Electronic archive of core journals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. Includes complete runs of journals with full-text of all articles published prior to the most current five years.

Literature Resource Center [on-campus] [help]
Coverage: varies. Includes the series Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism (CLC), and Dictionary of Literary Biography (DLB) and full-text articles from 34 literary journals.

MLA International Bibliography [on-campus]
Provides indexing of over 4,000 journals and series. Also indexes books, essay collections, working papers, proceedings, dissertations, and bibliographies. Includes links to full text of selected journal articles.

Project Muse (All Titles) [on-campus]
Coverage varies. Searchable index of over 110 journals in the humanities and social sciences. Selected full text.

Use these to locate books, journals (not individual articles), videos, and government documents.

UB Catalog [help]
Books, journals, government documents and other materials in Langsdale Library.

Catalog USMAI [help]
Books, journals, government documents and other materials in the University System of Maryland, including UB. You may search up to six individual locations or the entire system.

WorldCat [on-campus] [help]
Coverage: Varies. International database of collections (including books, journals , dissertations, documents, and other materials) held by libraries worldwide. Maryland libraries that own copies of the items display at the top of the list of libraries so you can easily determine if local libraries own the material needed. Records of any type of material cataloged by OCLC member libraries. Includes manuscripts written as early as the 12th century.

General reference tools:
