On February 27, President Bush issued a Proclamation celebrating Women's History Month (March). Want to know more about the origins of this annual event? Take a look at the National Women's History Month Project website.

Many government agencies have created websites and online exhibits celebrating the contributions women have made to our society. Here are some selected sites:

• Air Force Link: Women's History Month
  This site includes articles about active-duty personnel and veterans, plus a photo gallery and multimedia persentation.
  
  
• American Women: A Library of Congress Guide for the Study of Women's History and Culture in the United States
  This is the online version of a Library Congress guide that was first printed in 2001. It includes information on how to use the physical collection in D.C. and provides guidance on using the online collections.
  
  
• Celebrating Women's History Month (U. S. Senate)
  This site includes biographies on the 33 women who have served as Senators (including the 14 serving now) and a photo gallery.
  
  
• Department of Defense - Women's History Month Homepage
  From the Website: "Join the Department of Defense as it observes National Women's History Month and salutes the many contributions of American Women to our country." Includes links to other Women's History Month websites.
  

• Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE): Women's History Month Resources
  This Department of Education site has an annotated list of online exhibits from various universities and government agencies.
  
  
• National Register of Historic Places - Celebrate Women's American History Month 2006
  From the website: "This site showcases historic properties listed in the National Register, National Register publications, and National Park units commemorating the events and people, the designs and achievements that help illustrate the contribution of women to the Nation's history."
  

• National Women's History Month - U.S. Department of State
  The State Department's webpage includes a copy of Elizabeth Cady Stanton's Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions (1848), as well as an online publication entitled Women of Influence.
  
  
• U.S. Census Press Release: Women's History Month
  This annual release contains lots of interesting facts about women in the U.S.

There is an interesting website called Squidoo which is providing brief introductions and guides to a number of different topics. These introductions, which they call lenses, can be produced by almost anyone and are designed to help people increase their exposure. Users can rate each lens to help identify the best ones.

Recently squidoo featured a lens on The Business of Graphic Design that could be of interest to many UB students and graduates.
