What we have done recently

Robert Shindle and attended the Fall 2006 Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC) in Morris County, New Jersey on Oct 26-28. He went to sessions on the Thomas A. Edison Papers Project , politicking for archivists, digital preservation and preservation of sound recordings.

Tom Hollowak attended the MARAC conference as well, and went to sessions talking about problems with archival backlogs, online access to archival materials and a fun panel session entitled "Expecting the Unexpected: Hysterical, Weird, and Strangely Important Items Found in, and Requests of, Our Archival Collections". Tom also received a service award for chairing the spring conference in Baltimore.

Tammy Taylor received the UB staff award for Exceptional Contribution to the Mission of the University of Baltimore.

Delores Redman received a 10 year service award from UB.

Lucy Holman and Michael Shochet attended planning meetings for the Maryland Association of Research Libraries. This organization will be the "host" chapter for the Association of College and Research Libraries annual conference that will be held in Baltimore next March.

Thomas Arendall-Salvetti, Lucy Holman and Michael Shochet have been attending workshops at UB to help with developing a information literacy class for freshmen.

Steve Labash, Steven Thorpe and Michael Shochet attended a teleconference on Best New Technologies: Keeping Up with the Storm. The teleconference was shown at UB on October 27, 2006.

Tami Smith attended the Annual Fall Depository Library Conference at College Park, MD from Oct 22-25.

On Nov. 16, Laura Melamed attended a Maryland Showcase workshop, about Maryland related materials that are in the Enoch Pratt Free Library.

What we are planning to do

Carol Vaeth will be co-presenting a presentation on the consortial implementation of ILLiad during the 3rd Annual ILLiad Conference in Virginia Beach on March 16 & 17, 2007
