The Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance (BNIA), formed in 2000, was the result of a two-year planning process that brought together local nonprofit organizations, city government agencies, neighborhood groups, and foundations under the direction of the Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers and the Annie E. Casey Foundation. BNIA's function is to provide current, accurate data about city neighborhoods to local decision-makers in government and business in order to improve the quality of life for residents of Baltimore City. BNIA is currently a program of The Jacob France Institute at the University of Baltimore.
The collection was donated to the University of Baltimore by the Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance in 2003.
