This volunteer commision was concerned with public administration policy and practice, cost, management and operation of Maryland Government. The CGEE's mission after 1929 was to conduct impartial research on local and state government in order to effect higher standards of performance in conducting government affairs. It also sought to stimulate citizen participation by informing citizens about local government affairs.

Custodial History:
The records of the Commission on Government Efficiency & Economy were deposited at the University's Baltimore Regional Institutional Studies Center in 3 accessions between 1970 and 1974. The collection was donated to the University of Baltimore by Alan L. Anders on September 30, 1974.
