Reproduction and Licensing

Reproduction Fees

Langsdale Library Special Collections charges for the production of digital scans of images. Excepting reproduction of Roland Park Civic League house plans, only materials smaller than 12" x 15" or 30.5 x 38cm may be scanned.

  • Roland Park Civic League House Plans 

    Architectural drawings from the Roland Park Civic League Collection can be reproduced as governed by the following fee schedule:

  • Lineage Societies

    To obtain a copy of a membership application or supplemental application papers, please obtain written permission from the lineage society, provide the member's complete name and Society Number (the number appearing next to the member's name), along with your check or money order, made payable to: University of Baltimore (checks not made out correctly cannot be cashed and will be returned, thereby delaying your request).

    The fee is $10.00 for members and $25.00 for non-members of the lineage society. Send your request, along with payment and a self-address envelope, to: Langsdale Library - Special Collections Department, 1420 Maryland Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21201. Allow 2 weeks for a reply. For duplication of supplemental material, there is a base $20.00 fee to copy and mail the contents of a single file of up to 20 pages. Beyond the first 20 pages, there is a fee of $1.00 for each additional page.

    Parties interested in requesting duplication of material from the General Society of Colonial Warriors Collection should contact John Mealey, executive director at (410) 837-4266.

  • Motion Pictures

    Copies of video discs (DVD) and video cassettes to DVD, the fee will be $30.00 per media item.

  • Copies of video discs (DVD) and videocassettes to discrete digital files (.mov, .avi, .wmv, etc.), the fee will be $50.00 per media item.

  • Fees for copies of motion picture film and 1” or 2” videotape reels will be decided based on the length of the reel and the unit price provided by the vendor. 

Licensing Fees

Langsdale Library Special Collections charges a "licensing fee" for the privilege of using material from the archives for profit generating activities and/or publication. Such fees are charged in addition to reproduction fees as listed above, and are assessed according to the table below.

Copyright

Because photographic and A/V materials are covered by U.S. copyright law, each collection may have its own additional set of rights and restrictions stipulated in the original donation agreement, some collections can only be accessed and viewed. Other collections can be accessed and reproduced for private or public use in research, publications, or advertising. As a result, all material from the collections to be used for publication or commercial purposes, regardless the format of the image delivered, is governed by our Historical Materials License Agreement. Please consult the archivist in regard to specific collection conditions.

This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
