Library Profile: 2013

Our users:

  • visited Langsdale 104,503 times, averaging 430 visitors on a semester weekday;
  • used Langsdale’s computers 19,578  times* (including use of 543 loanable laptops and tablets) while 8,507 used their own laptops in the building;
  • used Langsdale 21,091 times for studying (non-computing areas);
  • used Langsdale 7,751 times for group study;
  • made 139,588 visits to Langsdale’s website—an average of almost 400 visits per day—and viewed 346,984 pages, including 11,349 for Special Collections. Almost 20% of the traffic came through the library’s presence in Sakai; approx. 8% from our mobile site;
  • conducted  817,127 searches of Langsdale’s subscription databases;
  • accessed  2,384,925 digital archival files from UB’s Special Collections and viewed 23,264 archival photographs from UB’s Flickr site;
  • borrowed and renewed almost 37,000 UB and USM materials;
  • accessed 66,644 electronic reserves, viewed 4290 streaming DVDs, and checked out 2,345 reserve books, for a total of 73,279 items accessed. A 32% increase from FY 2012;
  • requested 5,134 items through intercampus borrowing, including 2,960 through the expedited courier service, and 3,453 items through Interlibrary loan;
  • asked 37,460 reference questions (which includes questions asked of Circulation and Special Collections).
