FMG FAQ

What is Films On Demand?

Films On Demand is an online service that allows you or your students to access documentary and educational videos and films from your PC, eliminating the need to use video viewing equipment in the Library or special projection equipment in your classroom.

How do I see the list of currently available videos and films?

  1. Go to http://langsdale.ubalt.edu.
  2. Click on “Databases By Title”.
  3. Click on  the letter “F”.
  4. Click on campus link for FMG.
  5. View the title list.

How do I view a film or video?

Follow the steps above and then click on the film/video you wish to view.  If you are off-campus, you will be prompted to log into ResearchPort with your library account before you can view a film. You should note that you can view specific sections of some of the longer films and videos which gives you flexibility in using the item.

How do I enlarge the image?

Start the preview video/film and then click on “View Full Screen”.

Is there a way to improve the resolution of the enlarged image?

The short answer is no, but we believe the image is adequate for most purposes.

How many people can watch the same video or film simultaneously?

            There is no limit.

Are the films and videos available to off-campus users?

Yes. If you have a library account, you can view the films from off campus by going directly through ResearchPort, or by following the steps above.

How were the films and videos selected?

We reviewed the number of times our video and DVD versions of some of these titles circulated and chose some that have been most in demand.  In addition, librarians selected some other titles we thought would be of interest.

Why are there only 50 titles?

We are starting this as a pilot project to judge acceptance and demand.  If we find this service is popular we will be adding many more titles.

Who do I contact for more information or help in using FMG Films On Demand or to comment on this new service?
