Scope and Contents:
Primarily a reference file originally established for use by Commission. Contains reports, news clippings, studies, conference proceedings and manuscript material related to the mission of the organization and its operation.
Historical Note:
Originally chartered in 1922 as the Baltimore Criminal Justice Commission, this group was formed through efforts of citizens and groups of civic, business, and professional organizations. In 1965, the name was changed to Criminal Justice Commission. In 1970, it became the Mayor's Committee on Criminal Justice.
Custodial History:
The records of the Criminal Justice Commission were deposited at the University's Baltimore Regional Institutional Studies Center in two accessions in 1970 and 1977.
