Collection Title: Southeast Council Against the Road (SCAR)

Scope and Contents:    

Articles of incorporation, by-laws, correspondence, minutes, reports, publications, photographs, and clippings.

Historical Note:   

Barbara Mikulski and Gloria Aull organized SCAR in 1968 to fight the construction of an east-west expressway that would have destroyed residential sections of southeast Baltimore.

Custodial History:   

The collection was donated to the University of Baltimore by Ellen von Karajan, Executive Director of the The Society for the Preservation of Federal Hill and Fell's Point, in 2003.
